Your trip plan
What this solves
Swiss ski season varies wildly by altitude. Glacier areas (Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Titlis) are open year-round. Low resorts (Leysin, Villars) need snowmaking and only open December–March reliably. Travellers book January trips to resorts that won't open until December 20, or expect March skiing at altitudes where the season ends April. This tool gives the realistic window.
How to read the results
- Season confidence = how likely the resort is to have full coverage in the chosen month.
- Best months = the month-to-month window for your chosen altitude band.
What this tool ignores
- Snow quality (powder vs spring slush).
- Snowmaking investment by resort — larger resorts (Verbier, Zermatt) extend season with snow guns.
Common questions
Which resorts are open in November?
Only glacier areas — Zermatt (Theodulpass), Saas-Fee, Titlis (Engelberg), Diavolezza (Engadin). Limited terrain.
Where can I ski in May?
Same glacier areas (Zermatt, Saas-Fee, Titlis, Diavolezza) + a handful of high resorts (Cervinia, Verbier glacier). Many lower resorts close after Easter.
When is the best snow month?
Mid-February to mid-March is the historic best for powder at most altitudes. Christmas / New Year has crowds + artificial snow.
