Your situation
What this solves
All three peaks are famous, all three are crowded, all three cost a small fortune. Brochures rank them equally. Travellers end up doing the most expensive one because of name recognition, when the cheaper one matches their plan better. This tool ranks them by your priority.
It also surfaces the real differences: Jungfraujoch is the only one with an indoor ice palace, Pilatus has the steepest cogwheel railway in the world, Titlis has the only cliff walk that's free.
How to read the results
- Round-trip price includes train / bus from your base, all cable cars, and any surcharge fees. Half Fare is applied.
- Time on top is the recommended visit length; longer if you plan hikes / meals.
- Crowd score = how busy it gets in summer. 5 = shoulder-to-shoulder.
- Best for tags are what each peak is genuinely best at.
What this calculator ignores
- Weather — clear-day views are 4× better than cloudy-day views.
- Lunch costs at the top — Jungfraujoch has a CHF 35+ buffet, Pilatus has cheaper options.
- The Schilthorn (James Bond peak) and First — both worth a look; compare against the Bernese Oberland base.
Common questions
Is the Jungfraujoch worth the price?
Yes if you have a clear day and are at the Bernese Oberland anyway. No if you're based in Lucerne — the round-trip + 5h train from Lucerne costs more than the day. Alternatives: stay in Interlaken/Grindelwald.
Which has the best cliff walk?
Titlis Cliff Walk is the highest suspension bridge in Europe (500 m above ground, free with the cable car ticket). First Cliff Walk (Grindelwald) is shorter but free and closer to the valley. Both are fine.
Is Pilatus better than Rigi?
Pilatus is steeper, more dramatic, more activities (rope park, toboggan). Rigi is gentler, with a wider view of the central Swiss lakes and a sunnier climate. If it's your only mountain day, Pilatus wins for impact.
